  • Overview

    Operate and maintain transmissions systems such as 2.4 Hawkeye, Hawkeye Lite, TACSAT, GBS, and PRC-117Gs. Provide technical guidance on SAR/GAR process, JCSE/DISA Step Site procedures and establish communications services over Internet Protocol. Coordinate, install, administer, and maintain assigned Satellite and communications and develop, review and modify changes of operations schedules for successful day-to-day operations.


    • Provide software installation, configuration, technical guidance and troubleshooting various systems that include 2.4 Hawkeye, Hawkeye Lite, TACSAT, GBS, and PRC-117G
    • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in the operation, employment, principles, practices, tactics and techniques associated with JTF communications equipment
    • Plan, program, provide curriculum development, and execution of classroom and practical application, periods of instruction, and validate and update training plans to facilitate enhanced training and improved technical and tactical skills of JTF system operators and maintainers
    • Design data products, processes, or programs that enhance function area management for SATCOM Communications processes, hardware and software to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of systems
    • Troubleshoot, identify, and develop corrective action for unique or complex system problems, software and hardware malfunctions with logical problem-solving skills and recommendation of equipment, software, or hardware to be used to resolve the situation
    • Advise technical personnel and serve as technical authority for SATCOM Communication managements and the various transmissions, communications, applications, techniques, and processes that are utilized
    • Manage and oversee projects to ensure goals are accomplished when applicable
    • Develop solutions to enhance operation system hardware and software with up to date technological advances and practices
    • Apply experienced judgement with innovative techniques in assistance to management to identify and reduce or eliminate time intensive manual processes with current and proposed equipment and software enhancements via tests and evaluations, site surveys on physical locations and temporary installation requirements
    • Manage installation of patches, enhancements, and updates to ensure the system integrity is not compromised and with minimal disruption to normal business functions
    • Provide proactive consultation and instruction to users to ensure seamless implementation of upgrades, maintenance or any other changes are made to systems, software, or hardware
    • Oversee network rights, access to systems and equipment, and account management


    • Education:
      • IAT Level II (Security+ CE; GSEC; etc.)
      • HS diploma or GED required
      • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience preferred
    • Required Knowledge/Experience:
      • Knowledge of 2.4 Hawkeye, Hawkeye Lite, TACSAT, GBS, and PRC-117G
      • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with SAR/GAR process, JCSE/DISA Step Site procedures, establishing communications services over Internet Protocol, and Tactical Radio operations
      • Possess the ability to submit SAR/GARs, SAA/GAAs and plans for mission, exercise and contingency planning for communication equipment
      • Knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) procedures for responding to new threats to systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability
    • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
      • 8 to 10 years’ experience setting up communication equipment and supporting communication equipment for expeditionary JTF Command and Control (C2) programs such as Deployable Joint Command Control System (DJC2), Next Generation Enclave (NGE), Tactical Processing Node (TPN), or other deployable programs of a similar level of scope.
      • 8 to 10 years’ experience managing IP over SATCOM using iDirect or equivalent FN-TDMA hubs, voice over Internet (VOIP) gateways, call managers, performance enhancing proxies (PEP) and telephony systems.
    • Physical Requirements:
      • Ability to be able to up to 50 pounds
      • Ability to operating in austere environments, hardship, Hostile Deployment Areas, etc.
