  • Overview

    Responsible for assisting and ensuring EUR, IO, and RSC’s systems and applications meet security, certification and accreditation and information assurance standards. The Information Assurance Engineer(s) is responsible for identifying and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII), or Sensitive Personal Information (SPI), as used in information security and privacy laws.


    • Perform vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle
    • Prepare certification & accreditation documentation and procedures
    • Work with Information Assurance (IA) on categorizing applications and completing all documentation to meet IA’s strict security scoring and requirements
    • Work with Information Resource Management’s Cloud Computing Governance Board when submitting applications for approval
    • Identify and protect various levels of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to ensure security safeguards are applied
    • Implement the guidance on efforts regarding Information Assurance functions, particularly those focusing on strategic planning, infrastructure protection, defensive strategy, and continuing IT operations
    • Contribute to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification, and awareness training
    • Monitor and suggests improvements to policy


    • Education:
      • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferable
    • Required Knowledge/Experience:
      • 3+ years hands-on, practical experience in information assurance and protecting information systems
      • Demonstrably thorough understanding of Windows security practices and procedures at an enterprise level
      • Have demonstrated, hands-on experiences with system hardening procedures, securing system services and conduct pre-deployment assessments of applications and systems for security vulnerabilities
      • Serious attention to detail
      • Excellent writing and verbal skills to include interviews and presentations
      • Must possess the ability to multi-task and schedule time appropriately
    • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
      • CISM and/or CISSP certification
      • 3+ years hand-on experience with computer network defense
      • 3+ years experience with Federal and/or DOD certification and accreditation processes
      • 3+ years experience with formal policy and procedures for securing and protecting information systems such as DCID 6/3, ICD 503, or NIST Publication 800-30/37/39

    Other Responsibilities

    • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager
