  • Overview

    Work with the current SharePoint Developers and System Administrators to support the current SharePoint instances.  Analyze and resolve problems related to data, software, servers, and usage, install and maintain system software including upgrades and patches, monitor performance and maintain system security as it pertains to the infrastructure.


    • Develop SharePoint content as needed
    • Monitor SharePoint trends (site usage and growth, disk space usage, and growth)
    • Manage ongoing SharePoint system maintenance and network configuration
    • Review overall server architecture based on changes in usage over time
    • Design and facilitate all necessary architectural changes
    • Ensure complete and accurate backups of the SharePoint infrastructure occur
    • Maintain IIS application pools and web sites
    • Assist with the migration/installation and testing of software installation, patching, and testing
    • Work with the SharePoint Development and Sys Admin teams to ensure that patches are applied, and OS/server updates are completed appropriately and successfully
    • Work closely with the SharePoint Development team to ensure services and applications are operational and report issues as necessary
    • Review SharePoint logs for high-priority and repeating issues and errors
    • Review SharePoint search logs and usage reports and troubleshoot as required
    • Optimize and configure SharePoint integration with other Office products
    • Conduct research on emerging SharePoint development tools and strategies
    • Report on SharePoint uptime and SLA compliance
    • Ensure compliance with the software system configuration management policies
    • Create documentation that outlines overall architecture within SharePoint
    • Create documentation that defines all policies, procedures and configurations for SharePoint applications


    • Education:
      • Degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent work experience
    • Required Knowledge/Experience:
      • CompTIA Security+
      • Minimum 3 years of SharePoint administration experience working with Central Administration including service applications, policies, and logging
      • Experience with PowerShell commands and functions
      • In-depth knowledge of system design and architecture in SharePoint 2010
      • Experience performing SharePoint upgrades and migrations
      • Experience creating, modifying, and deploying Group Policy Objects
      • Experience with Active Directory and SharePoint integration
      • Experience with PKI infrastructure
      • Experience with cross-domain configuration
      • Experience with IIS and authentication methods
      • Knowledge of SQL 2008 security and authentication processes as they relate to SharePoint technologies
      • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
      • Proven track record of applying analytical skills to a variety of projects and issues
      • Ability to engage with government customers and subject matter experts related to business needs, governance, and user adoption
      • Excellent customer-facing skills, as well as experience working with business users to gather requirements
      • Ability to work well in a mixed and distributed team
      • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information
      • Highly self-motivated and directed
      • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation
      • Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required
      • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
      • Knowledge with following software products:
        • VMware
        • Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008
        • Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007/2010
        • Microsoft IIS Web Server
        • Microsoft Enterprise Server 2008
    • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
      • MCTS: SharePoint 2010 Configuration certification preferred
      • MCITP: SharePoint 2010 Administration certification preferred
      • Experience with commercial cloud services is a plus
