Overview

Utilize experience with years of direct experience with hands on implementation of network backbone technology (Cisco Routers, Switches, and firewalls), experience creating architecture guidelines for multiple instances of technology, capability to explain and design technology on an engineering and management level, and concise understanding of complete technology requirements and underlying technology fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership in the design of network infrastructure services to meet business requirements and operational objectives
  • Serve as the company’s primary Point of Contact (POC) and liaison for the team with the Government Program Management Office (PMO)
  • Be responsible for supporting administrative and personnel decisions
  • Serve as technical liaison between the contractor team and the government PMO in support of the network backbone systems, and support services
  • Provide input to Government policy level discussions regarding project standards and budget constraints
  • Provide regular and ongoing status reports to government PMO and support contract deliverables and schedule
  • Delegate tasking to the network engineering team staff
  • Coordinate activities, review, and evaluate personnel work to ensure that it conforms to the Performance Work Statement requirements
  • Work proactively to support Government PMO requirements
  • Provide architect engineering and supervisory services in support of emerging technology integration into network backbone systems

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • Must possess one of the following Industry recognized certifications
      • Cisco CCNP
      • Cisco CCNP Security
      • Cisco CCDP
    • Extensive experience with campus wide wireless deployment
    • High level of understanding of wireless signal propagation, wireless bands, wireless signal strength management, heat map design, and facility construction interference assessment
    • Senior level experience in wireless security configuration and Bring Your Own Device wireless deployment
    • High level of knowledge of Department of State DS wireless configuration guidelines and FAM regulations
    • Expert level understanding of packet inspection technologies, particularly as these relate to:
      • TCP packet header inspection and intrusion protection
      • IP packet data inspection and intrusion protection
      • Application level packet inspection and intrusion protection for sql injection and cross-site scripting events
    • Senior level of knowledge of LAN switching environment with numerous CISCO Switches (Models: 3560G, 3560X, 3560, 3850, 4507, 6509)
    • In depth understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching
    • Knowledge of packet analysis systems, including NetVCR packet capture appliances, deep packet inspection, and intrusion protection systems
    • Able to configure VLANS, SUBNETS, and other various switching technologies
    • Extensive knowledge of firewall systems and ASA Next Gen firewall configuration
    • Experience must have been acquired in a Windows-based (2008/Windows 7 or higher) client/server environment with the ability to successfully adapt current environment to higher versions (e.g., Windows 2012 or higher server/Windows 10 or higher client)
    • Knowledgeable with multiple routing protocols and the use of default routes
    • Capable of using WhatsUp Gold for daily network monitoring
  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
    • Distance learning DMZ environments (preferably the Learn.com LearnCenter platform)
    • Architecture Cisco 6509 and 4500 core architectures
    • Architecture experience of:
      • Network backbone services in Learning Management Systems (LMS)
      • BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) WiFi network platform
      • NetApp Storage Systems
      • Syncsort software systems
      • CommVault Software Systems
      • VMware virtualization services
      • Network monitoring software
    • Expertise with state-of-the-art security monitoring systems, preferably, the Niksun NetVCR packet capturing and intrusion protection platforms, Cisco IPS appliances, Cisco ASA firewall systems, F5 Application Security Manager appliances
    • Experience in using customized security logging systems in a web-based learning environment

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Network Engineer
